Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate is a governorate of Oman. It was created on 28 October 2011 when Ash Sharqiyah Region was split into Ash Sharqiyah North Governorate and Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate. The center of the governorate is the Wilayat of Sur.
Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate consists of five provinces:
Sur, Al Kamil W’al Wafi, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, and Masirah.

Sur
Sur is a city that is best known for the craftsmanship associated with boats or traditional ‘Dhows’. Shipbuilding, particularly building wooden ships is a trade that is a part of Sur’s rich heritage. Sur is the second wealthiest city in Oman, with a population of around 120,000 residents.
Masirah
Being the largest island in Oman as well as the most relaxing destination for a weekend getaway. It is filled with stunning beaches and exciting water sports. The island has a population of about 12,000 people and was only recently open for tourism. It is also known as a “paradise for kitesurfers”.
Al Kamil Wa Al Wafi
Al Kamil Wal Wafi is divided into plain mountains and is characterized by fertility in its soil and suitability for cultivation, and sandy hills, and is located in the western part of the state, which is an extension of the eastern sands and this sand is considered the calamity of many camels and sheep.
Jalan bani Bu Hasan
Jalan Bani Bu hassan is one of the most fertile and abundant states in the southeast. It is in the South Sharqiyah Governorate is rich in diversity and multiplicity of archaeological, historical, touristic and economic monuments. It is about 300 kilometers away from the capital, Muscat.
